Electromagnetic compatibility - Generic emission standard Part 2. Industrial environment
 
SCOPE

This standard for emission requirements applies to electrical and electronic apparatus intended for use in the industrial environment for which no dedicated product or product-family emission standard exists. Apparatus designed to radiate electromagnetic energy for radio communications purposes is excluded from this standard.

Where a relevant dedicated product or product-family emission standard exists, it shall take precedence over all aspects of this generic standard.

The environments encompassed by this standard are industrial, both indoor and outdoor. Apparatus covered by this standard is not intended for connection to a public mains network but is intended to be connected to a power network supplied from a high or medium-voltage transformer dedicated for the supply of an installation feeding manufacturing or similar plant. This standard applies to apparatus intended to operate in industrial locations or in proximity to industrial power installations.

TESTS

This standard cross refers to EN55011 for test technique and details.

Radiated:

This requires the use of a broadband antenna to measure the level of RF energy radiated from the product into ‘space’. Ideally an Open Area Test Site (OATS) or equivalent should be used. Uncalibrated test sites will require the use of an ERS to quantify test site distortion. Frequency range 30MHz to 1000MHz.

Conducted:

The RF conducted back down the mains lead is measured preferably with a LISN (Line Impedance Stabilisation Network), or alternatively with a voltage probe if a LISN is not suitable, and from other terminals with a voltage probe. Frequency range 150KHz to 30Mhz. If impulse noise (clicks) are presentat a click rate >30clicks per minute then the limits are fully applied. For clicks rate <5 no limit is applied to the disturbances caused by the clicks. Between these two click rate values a sliding scale applies.

The signals from the antenna, LISN or voltage probe are all analysed in a CISPR16 EMC analyser.

KIT

The complete basic kit to cover both radiated and conducted emissions measurement in accordance with the standard, including a 16A single phase LISN and RF200 broadband antenna and ERS (emissions reference source to calibrate the test site. ...RFG-4BC

A comprehensive range of alternative LISNs for up to 150A rating and 3 phases are available. If applicable, a voltage probe can be supplied in place of the LISN. ...RFG-5BC

Recommended option: RF910 pre-selector. Essential if the EUT generates broadband noise or ‘clicks’ (e.g. variable speed motors, motors with commutators, power controllers, phase angle controllers) ...add -R
