EMC From Laplace EM Aware™

ESD Event Monitors: Networking

EM AwareÔ ESD Event monitors are designed to be networkable. They require essentially no effort in order to be connected to any factory control monitoring system or to any data acquisition system. If your company doesn't have a data acquisition system or a factory control system already in place, we can supply you with a data acquisition system that suits your needs.

EM AwareÔ monitors also work in a stand-alone mode. For that they will need only external plug-in power supply (also available).

Interface

There are two basic interface types that AwareÔ monitors provide: voltage (0..5V) and current loop (4..20mA). Depending on the specific type of EM AwareÔ monitor, either ESD Event or both the ESD Event and its magnitude are represented by either 0..5VDC levels or 4..20mA current. Any industrial control system or data acquisition system that accepts voltage or current inputs can easily accommodate EM AwareÔ monitors. Though ESD Events may last only nanoseconds, EM AwareÔ monitors "stretch" the signals so that they could be easily read by any network.

Power

EM AwareÔ monitors can be powered either by the network or via independent power supply. Network needs to supply 12 to 24VDC with current capacity of up to 100mA per each monitor. In addition, each EM AwareÔ monitor has power jack for independent power of 12VDC (500mA min. recommended due to inconsistency in specifications of the power supplies).

Programmability

Each EM AwareÔ monitor can be easily programmed via the network. In a voltage version, a 0..5 DC voltage provided by a network or data acquisition system will set the threshold sensitivity level so that EM AwareÔ monitor will register only those ESD Events that exceed set level. Similarly, in current loop version applied 4..20mA current value will set the threshold level.
